Quest for Learning is seeking technology-savvy individuals to help in presenting its biannual series of seminars for people of retirement age in the Lancaster community. As Quest increasingly relies on modern technology in publicizing, financing, and presenting its program, it needs people who have, or are interested in acquiring, skills in:
•. website design and maintenance,
• spreadsheets, database management and email, and
• the use of audio-visual and computing hardware and software in making, recording, and streaming educational presentations.
While some work related to Quest goes on year-round, peak efforts occur during the presentations of the fall program (from late September to early November) and spring program (from late March to early May). Like all positions in the Quest organization, this is an unpaid volunteer role. Quest was founded by and, for more than forty-five years, has been sustained by volunteers. From the speakers who research and craft their presentations and the servers who staff the refreshment tables during the coffee break to the technical team that broadcasts our sessions online and the board members who develop, guide and publicize Quest’s biannual programs, all are volunteers.
As we return to in-person programming, we will always have a need for volunteer assistance in serving refreshments during our half hour social. It is a great opportunity to serve, but also to meet and converse with your fellow Quest attendees.
If you are interested in volunteering for Quest and see any way in which you think you could contribute to our program, please let us know. And, of course, we are always interested in receiving any suggestions you might have about topics you would like to see addressed or speakers you would like to hear.
